AGRICULTURAL MATERIALS OF DRENTHE

The project started with a stocktaking of the existing material resources in Drenthe. As agriculture is the biggest I selected the four most produced crops such as corn, wheat, potato and sugar beet to start my research. By the use of lactic acid fermentation the sugar is transformed into dextrose fibers that are suitable to make new materials like bio plastics, bio rubber or bio textile. The outcome was a precise material research, with a focus on the relation between fermentation time and the amount of fermentation bacteria added. Agricultural materials of Drenthe is a material research into the opportunities of the widely available crops in Drenthe next to their original purpose of consumption. It’s a proposal and recommendation for Provincie Drenthe to further explore the opportunities with what they have largely available.
