PEAT ROUTES

I made a series of routes to explore the town of Veenhuizen and offer people a close-up experience of what the old reform colony has had to say about humanity since its inception. The routes take visitors to different places of interest in Veenhuizen, both cultural and natural ones and engage them through playful singposting. Each of the ‘Peat routes’ is connected to one of the striking name plates on the local houses. The cycling route ‘Arbeid is Zegen’ (Labour is blessing), for example, is covered on a bicycle made by detainees inside one of the prisons in the area.

Peat routes is made possible and in collaboration with Veenhuizen.
